  • 220kV transmission line between Alusteng and Leh is executed by PDD through PGCIL and is commissioned in 2019.
  • Power supply to UT Ladakh is mostly dependent on connectivity through 220kV Srinagar-Leh Transmission Line.
  • Ministry of Power, GoI launched Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) in July 2008 to cover urban areas - towns and cities with population of more than 30,000 (10,000 in case of special category states like J&K). Projects under the scheme Part-A & Part-B have been completed.
  • GoI has launched DeendayalUpadhaya Gram Jyoti Yogna with the objectives for strengthening of Power Distribution System of Rural areas of the State including Rural electrification for completion of leftover RGGVY plans at an approved cost of Rs 616.59 Crores.
  • GoI has launched IPDS for the urban areas with the objective to Strengthen sub-transmission and distribution networks in the urban areas; Metering of distribution transformers / feeders / consumers in the urban areas and IT enablement of distribution sector and strengthening of distribution network at a sanctioned cost of Rs 444.50 Cr. Execution of various works is under progress.
  • Hon’ble Prime Minister’s new Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Plan 2015 was framed on the philosophy of 24x7 Power for All (PFA) by 2019 and ensuring Fiscal Autonomy (EFA) of J&K for a new era in development. The Plan amounting to Rs 11358.00 Crores for J&K Power Development Department was then sanctioned by the J&K State Planning and Development Department vide PD/2015-16/Coord-101/Reconstruction Plan dated: 14-12-2015 out of which an amount of Rs. 3895 Crores was earmarked for distribution. Execution of various works is under progress.
