UJALA (UNNAT JYOTI BY AFFORDABLE LEDs FOR ALL)
• The fundamental achievement of one of government's first energy efficiency pan-India programme is reflected by UJALA or the LED bulb programme. This simple act of change of one light bulb to LED heralded a movement in the entire country for considering the same change. Built on the concepts of monetization of energy savings and aggregation resulting in low-bulk cost, also makes this programme the largest energy efficiency public scheme in the world (Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All) It is a scheme for Registered Domestic Electricity Consumers under Jammu & Kashmir Power Development Department being implemented in collaboration with EESL. This scheme is introduced to benefit the consumers and save their day to day energy bills. Under this scheme consumer can buy 5 LED bulbs at the rate of Rs.20 each on production of Photostat copy of photo-identity card and latest electricity bill. In case of purchase of more than 5 bulbs, consumers need to pay Rs.60 per bulb.
